Biaggi
and Toseland win first 2007 SBK races

(World SuperBike Release)
Max Biaggi has won the first race of the 2007 SBK World Superbike
Championship, ahead of James Toseland and Lorenzo Lanzi.
Biaggi briefly took the lead from the start before running wide on the
first corner and allowing Corser and Haga through.
Toseland moved up to second place on lap 2 and then into the lead on
lap 3. Toseland and Biaggi then pulled clear of the chasing pack,
starting a race long battle that would see them swap places for the
next ten laps. Biaggi finally established an advantage with three laps
to go.
Kagayama, Bayliss and Lanzi caught and passed Corser and Haga, with
Lanzi eventually taking third place.
Fabrizio crashed on the first lap, and team mates Nieto and Laconi
tangled with each other and crashed on lap 13.
James Toseland has won the second World Superbike race at Losail,
moving into joint first place alongside Max Biaggi in the championship
standings.
BIaggi again led the opening corners before Toseland took the lead,
with Haga and Corser close behind. Biaggi slipped to fourth place by
the end of the first lap but stayed with the pack of four riders who
broke away from the chasing pack. He then took third place on lap five
and second on lap seven, finally establishing the position on lap
eleven.
Meanwhile Toseland had been lapping consistently at the front, opening
up a two second gap which he held until the closing laps, when Biaggi
closed to within 0.7 seconds.
Toseland finished first, with Biaggi second and Corser third. Haga just
held onto fourth place, ahead of Nieto, Kagayama, Lanzi and Bayliss.
