Rossi test new 800cc machine
(MotoGP Release) Brno pole-winner Valentino Rossi, who also topped the time sheets throughout last weekend, was once again setting the pace yesterday at the Czech circuit in post-race testing. On a windy and overcast day, the Camel Yamaha rider clocked an unofficial time of 1’57.315. Nicky Hayden was the only other rider capable of breaking the 1’58 barrier, riding the Repsol Honda. Fine-tuning for the triple flyaway of September races, a tour which will take in Malaysia, Australia and Japan in consecutive weekends and will prove pivotal in the final standings, took priority on Monday. Loris Capirossi also had the chance to get onboard the Desmosedici GP7 for the first time, whilst Rossi was another of the riders to try out an 800cc machine, albeit a jet black prototype. “The main goal is to prepare the M1 for the next few races, even though I had the opportunity to test next year’s machine,” commented Rossi. “It is very easy to ride and a more agile bike.”
