Bayliss ends with a win (World SuperBike Release) Ducati Xerox’s Troy Bayliss ended his second world championship-winning season with a win in the final race of the season in Magny-Cours, France. The man he deposed, Troy Corser, came second, with Winston Ten Kate Honda’s James Toseland securing second in the 2006 World Superbike Championship by finishing third. The podium trio were the only riders to lead the 23 lap race and none led it more than once. Corser led the first two laps before Toseland led the majority of the race, laps five through 20. Bayliss took the lead on the 21st lap and sped to victory, his 12th of the year, this time by 1.282 seconds. Toseland was another 2.1 seconds back in third with Yamaha Motor Italia’s Nori Haga fourth at a gap of five seconds. Bayliss had clinched his championship last week in Imola, but second was up for grabs to the end. Toseland ended up taking it by ten points over Haga, 336 to 326. Riding in his final race for the Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra team, Corser jumped from sixth to fourth in the final race, ending up with 254 points, four more than Yamaha Motor Italia’s Andrew Pitt, also in the final race with his team. Klaffi Honda’s Alex Barros finished his first World Superbike season in sixth with 246 points.
